Stairways and Benches
CSPA paid for the materials to replace two dilapidated stairways and two benches used by visitors to the marsh. A team of park volunteers, led by Jim Mazzone, donated time and labor to construct them. One stairway joins Pescadero State Beach’s middle parking lot to the pedestrian walkway on the west side of Highway 1. This parking lot is commonly used by visitors to the marsh as well as to the beach, and it is the meeting place for bi-monthly tours of the marsh that are led by volunteer docents. The second stairway is used to reach the path to the marsh from the pedestrian walkway beside the highway. One new bench is on the observation deck in the marsh and the other is along a popular trail.
